Valentine's Day

I know its a week late, but it has been a busy week so I am finally getting around to doing this post. Since Valentine's Day is a busy holiday for us with the flower shop, I didn't get to do much for Qurrat for Valentine's. I was at the flower shop 6:30 till 9 or 10 for 4 days straight. Compared to previous years, this really isn't that big of a deal since we are used to staying to 1 or 2 in the morning for a few days straight. But with the economy the way it is and with Valentine's falling on a Sunday, it was much slower this year.

So we weren't able to go out because of work. But I was able to sneak away for an hour on Sunday to come home and decorate our room with rose petals on the bed.

And my mom made this really cool box arrangement in which she shaped the roses like a heart and then put little gems in the middle of each rose.

For Qurrat's gift, I got her a ruby and diamond pendant. As soon as I saw it, I knew that she would like it.

Golf Time

I am trying to get back into playing golf. I have been able to head out and play a few times in the last few weeks, and it has felt really good. I definitely missed it. The feeling that I get when I hit a good shot, which doesn't happen very often, makes all the frustration and work well worth it.

Unfortunately, the local golf shop, Pro Golf Discount, is closing down. The owners have decided to retire and in talking to their son, he says that the way the economy is, he can't afford to keep the shop open. This really sucks since that is the only actual golf shop in Simi and they always provided great service and expertise. But since they are going out of business, they are having a pretty good sale on their remaining product. So I picked up a few things. Here are some pictures of my new toys.

Abid's Birthday

Last Saturday, we got together to celebrate Abid's birthday. His actual birthday was a few weeks ago, but this was when everyone could get together for the party. Sanaa and Sameer decided to make it a surprise and boy did it work. Abid thought that people were just getting together to play some poker so he showed up in his high school sweatshirt and jeans. And he was definitely surprised as you can see below.

Overall, it was a great time hanging out with friends, playing video games, and catching up with people that we don't get to see very often. Here are some more pictures from the party.

Got to hang out with my little buddy, Hamza. Man I missed this kid so much. Glad I get to hang out with him again this weekend.

We played a lot of NBA 2K10 that night. First round was Yusuf and Me vs. Huzaifa and Yousuf. And you know who prevailed. YOURS TRULY!!!!
